Marriage Visa

The marriage visa allows a foreign spouse of a US citizen or green card holder to apply for legal permanent residency also known as a green card in the United States. A marriage visa is applied for through Consular Processing. This means your spouse will attend a visa interview at a US Embassy/Consulate abroad.

Marriage Criteria
Description of Criteria

Lawful Marriage

Evidence that your marriage is lawful.

Genuine Relationship

Evidence showing relationship is real. Joint lease, banks, bills, etc.

Affidavit of Support

Demonstrate financial ability to support your spouse.

Medical Examination

Foreign spouse will need to undergo a medical exam.

Background Check

Foreign spouse must obtain police certificate(s).
